Celebrate Cinco de Mayo Hawaii-Style

On May 5th, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo with great food, drink and music. On Hawaii Island, there are several places to honor the red, white and green with good cheer and camaraderie. Among them: Daylight Mind Café or Huggo’s on the rocks situated on the waterfront in the heart of Kailua-Kona where Fresh Ono Ceviche and Mexican Lasagna will be featured all day long Sunday, along with special prices on Margaritas and Pacifica and Corona beers; Los Habaneros in Keauhou Shopping Center will showcase a variety of specialty dishes, including tamales and chicken in mole sauce – live entertainment also will be on offer at both locations.

One question I frequently receive from clients new to Hawaii Island who are looking to collect “made here” artwork is, “Who are some of your favorite local artists”? With so many talented individuals working in a variety of diverse mediums, I enjoy putting forward recommendations based on the specific home’s location, overall design and what I know about the individual client’s preferences.
